Starting by exploring the realm of Broadway, I am going to analyze the most popular musicals of our time. I am going to start off with one of my favorites, Wicked. Wicked follows the story of Elphaba, the "Wicked Witch of the West," before she was truly wicked. Glinda, the Good Witch and her go through school and an unexpected friendship appears. Being much before Dorothy drops into Oz, we see the evolution of Elphaba. From good to evil Elphaba's journey is one filled with wonder and spectacular imagry. For me Wicked will always be a classic, even though I am still younger I hope that Wicked will be around for a long time.Being that I believe it to be a classic, there must be others that believe that it isn't so amazing. Wicked can come under scrutiny for different reasons. Some people may just not enjoy the idea of a prequel to The Wizard of Oz because it allows them to sympathsize for someone they thought was pure evil, others just because they like to pessimistic and want a reason to not enjoy the magical experience. When I attended the performance in Chicage, Illinois, Elphaba was enhanced by none other than Idina Menzel. Glinda the Good Witch was performed by Kristen Chenoweth. For me this was a dream come true, please excuse the cliche, but they are very iconic people who I idolize. Along the way falling in love with these two amazing performers, helped me gain insight into why I love showbiz so much. Those who don't know what the heck showbiz is, it's just an abbriviation for show business. To me this musical will always hold a special place in my heart; it got me started into my obession with musical and musical performance. The people make the performance for me and no matter if they change who is the new performer in the part I will always think of those who started me off on my journey through music. Signing off, it's Amy the Asian...
