Ever After..

The time has come to dicuss the fantastic, John Cozart. This dude is a genius. He not only is a very skilled singer but he writes his own parodies and original songs. The first time I ever heard about the Ever After melody, I was in love. John had not only presented the princesses in a new way but he had made their stories seem as nightmares.
The first Disney princess tackled in this parody is Ariel. Now Ariel is a mermaid who got everything she wanted, feet, freedom, and a prince. Everyone assumes that she like the other princesses is living happily ever after, but Cozart has a different idea. He sings as Ariel talking about how her life took a turn for the worst. BP or British Pertrolium, has now polluted her land and her friends have been eaten by asians. He sings in a very sarcastic and witty tone before moving on the Jasmine.
Jasmine being an arabic princess sings about how she and Aladdin have been mistaken for terroists. Jasmine is confused as to where Aladdin is even been taken. She is by herself and in hiding. Jasmine talks about the CIA and how her husband is not a trained pilot. Which is an allusion to Al Queda. After the terrorism we move into a domestic abuse case.
Belle, who was previously talked about, is now without her "Beast." He was taken by PETA, an animal rights activist group. Which when you really think about it doesn't make sense because he was turned back into a human after the fight with Gaston. Anyway Cozart makes a joke about how she is being accused of Beastiality. So really this is more modern than the time it was supposed to take part in. Pocahontas is a whole new different kind of sad though.
Pocahontas' whole rant is about how John Smith left her and settlers moved in. She talks about STDs and disease. Which settlers brought from Europe when they inhabited the American lands. She is now a savage who kills whoever she needs to in order to protect herself. I find this rather comical because her story has real historical relevance. This issue actually arose in the difficult migration to America.
John Cozart, whether you look at him as a sick individual or a crazy genius, he has created a very sucessful YouTube video. Personally, he is one of my favorite YouTubers. Many would say he has crushed little kids dream but in reality he has just influenced great minds. His other works are stories sung in 99 seconds. Please go enjoy his videos.

Tale as Old as Time...

Yes, y'all we are venturing into the wonderful world of Disney. Beauty and the Beast is one of the Disney classics that I grew up dreaming about. The girl who gets "stuck" in the castle with a "hideous" beast. Belle, is a French maiden who is the "fairest of them all." See what I did there?;) She is being pursued by a man named Gaston who tries to serenade Belle with many songs. Yes it is a little skimpy on the whole breaking out in song and dance, but Gaston is a very comical character.
Gaston and Belle have an interesting relationship, in that he wants to marry Belle, but she could care less of what he wants. See Belle is the type to see the best in people. She wants to be with someone who cares about her family and passions just as much as their own. Belle rejects Gaston and with good reason. He is selfish and only wants to marry Belle because she is the most beautiful and would be a good image for him. Belle sees past this. Her father, Maurice gets into a bit of trouble when he stumbles upon a castle in the woods.
When Maurice finds this castle he finds the "beast." The Beast is actually not a Beast at all, hence the whole love story between he and Belle. There is quite a controversy to what the Beast's actually name is and contrary to popular belief that his name is Adam he was actually never given. If you think about that, it's quite sad that Disney couldn't bother to name him. He is a very influential character in that he teaches the lesson that it's what on the inside that counts. Belle is the pinnicle of don't judge a book by the cover.
Part of the reason Belle and The Beast work so well together is they forgive and try to see the best in each other even when that is not nesscessarily what you want to do. Gaston is the evil nature in all of us, the greedy selfish side that wants what is only best for ourselves. Belle and the Beast are the grand part of life, the good side. Each Disney princess has a story to tell. The classic of the girl who fell in love with the Beast is another story of how we need to look inside ourselves and see the best in everyone.
"We must be the change we see in others."

High School Random Singing...

High School Musical, I know what you are thinking that this doesn't fall under the category of Broadway, but I love musicals. I feel in love with High School Musical when I was very young, mind you. I loved the idea of people spontaneously dancing to songs in the middle of the hallway. Hoping that my high school experience would turn out this way, I danced and sang along to all of the songs when it came on tv. Gabriella Montez, was my favorite character ever because I soon began to realize I saw a lot of my younger self in her. Kinda weird if you ask me. I think that was the directors ploy, he wanted the character to be well liked. They were trying to inspire kids to go for their dreams. They were showing that you don't have to be one thing in high school, you can be what you want to be. As I look back at how enamored I was with this cast, I find myself really laughing because they've all grown up, just like I have. Being like any girl who saw Zac Efron for the first time on screen, I was in "love."His hair, his eyes, you name it I probably freaked out over him. Now don't get me wrong he's is still attractive, but we won't even go there. Being now that they all have grown up, they probably look back at their musical days and remember all of the hard work they put into it. And that's just the thing, these people worked so hard to put forth so much effort into the way to be famous. They found it. High School Musical is such a pivotal moment for my childhood because it was then that I realized I really loved music. These stars gave me the reason to pursue what I wanted to in moving forward. Whether or not I thought about my high school life then. These people really made my life different because I realized that I really wanted to get into this weird discovery called music. Now looking back these musicals were a big deal because we all wanted that fairytale romance along with the whole jock image. Music has a weird ways of inflitrating our lives. This was just one of the newest pushes in my life. For now Asian Out!

Identity Crisis.....

Ok so how many ways can a television series screw up their audience rating? One of the big ones is kill off a giant character or for me put on a musical. I can't begin to describe how frustrating it is when a TV show seems perfectly great then they decide to create an episode into a musical. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the songs but I just hate that the actors and actresses have to go through the process of creating a musical. Maybe in their previous life they dreamt that they were on Broadway but seriously get a grip people! If I seriously broke out in song every time a major life event happened I'm pretty sure my friends would not hesitate to hit me to make me shut up. Having a love for music doesn't mean that I want my favorite couple to argue in song. Producers listen up! It has been proven to decrease your ratings on TV. STOP IT! STOP IT I SAY! Sometimes your ideas aren't as good as you think. Now I'm not saying all of your ideas are crap, I understand some of the actors/actresses can be difficult. You need to control your emotional, musical outburst. They are contagious and lead to other TV shows' downfalls. I know you are thinking about Glee and Smash but those are musical based shows. Smash is about Broadway and Glee is about a high school show choir and a New York aspiring artist. I mean the people in these shows literally sing for a living. Just really make sure that you want to subject your professional ACTORS to the scrutiny that will happen if your people can't produce. I mean they are ACTORS. I think you get my point but really though I HOPE TO GOD you get my point. I rest my case for now.. Asian Out!!!
